A collection of photographs document my travels from Madrid to Hamburg and onward by train, bus and boat to an East Frisian island. Come join me to see what catches my eye on this long European journey.

I went for a photowalk around the centre of Madrid in hope of plenty of light, which is what is needed for the low ISO film that is Film Ferrania P30 film (ISO 80). Unusually I was met with cloudy conditions, but I made the most of it and managed to document some good Madrid street scenes.

An overnight stay in Hamburg enroute to Germany’s East Frisian islands was the perfect opportunity to search for some moody cityscape shots after dark. Armed with a few rolls of Kodak Tri-X film I went on the lookout for some striking scenes.

A December walkabout in Munich with the Christmas markets and pre-holiday good vibes provided a great backdrop for some black and white photography. This post sees plenty of high contrast, bright lights, grain, and black & white goodness from Kodak’s T-Max 3200 film.

Kodak’s re-introduction of its legendary Ektachrome film has been big news in film and photography circles, with the re-release coming towards the end of 2018. I figured it was about time I got my hands on some to see what all the fuss was about. Come join me in search of bright colours to see what this film is made of!

My latest idea was to focus on the finer details of the many examples of wonderful architecture around Munich. Shooting black & white film I looked for different textures and patterns in what was otherwise a very cloudy and dull day.

My next post sees me trying out the technique of ‘pushing film’ to allow me to shoot handheld during the night. We go for a walk around Innsbruck, Austria shooting a roll of Kodak Tri-X rated at ISO 1600.

My first post of this new series sees me exploring the great German outdoors in search of minimalist landscapes. I head towards the town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen in southern Bavaria and end up on Germany’s highest peak. Come find out more about my new project!
